Lacazette Confirms Stay in Lyon; Promises to Boost Team's Chances for League 1 Title

Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette has confirmed that he will be staying at the club, despite interest from several Premier League clubs.

In a statement released by the club on their official website, Lacazette said: "I am very happy to continue with my career at Olympique Lyonnais.

"I would like to thank the club and the fans for their support throughout this process."

The striker's decision comes after reports emerged earlier this month that he had been approached by several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United and Arsenal.

However, Lacazette was quoted as saying: "I want to play in France, I'm not going anywhere else," when speaking to L'Equipe last week.

He also revealed that he wanted to stay at Lyon because he believes they have the potential to win the French league title.

"The team is young but we can achieve something big," he added.

Lyon currently sit second in the league table behind Paris Saint-Germain, who have already won the title twice in the past two seasons.

But Lacazette believes that Lyon have the talent to challenge for the title again this season.

"We have good players and we have the potential to win the league," he said.

"We just need to work hard and improve our performances."

Despite his success at Lyon, Lacazette has faced criticism over his fitness levels in recent years.

In January, he missed out on a place in the France squad for the World Cup due to injury.

But he insists that he is fit enough to play for France and hopes to make a comeback in the future.

"It's normal to miss matches due to injuries," he told L'Equipe.

"But I feel well now and I hope to be able to return to the pitch soon."
